Volunteer!

We hope that by now you will get a feel for what happens on Two Fish outreach days. But incase you were still needing some more info here it is.

Two Fish has formed a set of guidelines and a routine.

We never EVER serve anything that we would not eat ourselves.
We pray during the week for the outreach day and make sure that we are in contact with the leaders to know what is needed and if we can accommodate the need.
We bring an assigned part of the meal, be it a condiment or an entree, everyone brings something to drop in the bucket so that it is not such a burden on one person.
We are never to be alone at any point in time, ALWAYS make sure you are around at least one person.
You are there at your own risk. (Which is not much cause you have the Lord protecting you)
You are always welcomed to bring your family out but if you do it is your responsibility to watch your children.
We do not give anyone money, unless there is a special circumstance and the Holy Spirit confirms that it is to be done.
We do not allow anyone to cut inline or take 2 plate because it starts a big argument and causes others who have not eaten to covet (and that is not cool)

When you get there you can expect to find:

Cuss words being used
Unpleasantness exchanged by our guests
Some very hungry people
Hungry Children
People who do not necessarily smell good
Thankful people
And Jesus Christ, He always shows up

Most of the time there is not enough food for the volunteers but on rare occasions when there is more food than people the volunteers get to eat. The food is always yummy, and there is always something sweet for dessert. The following is a sample of past menus we have done.

In cold weather:

Hot Chicken soup, crackers, fruit, water

In warm weather:

Taco Salads (chips, chili beans, ranch, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, onion), fruit, and a dessert, water or Kool-aide

Hot Chili, Corn Bread, Fruit, Hot Chocolate

Chicken Salads, Water, and Dessert

Christmas:

Ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, mixed veggies, stuffing, pies, and water

BBQ chicken, Salads, Chips, Dessert, and Water

Enchiladas, Rice, Beans, Dessert, Water

Hot Dogs, Chili Beans, Chips, Potato salad, Dessert, Watermelon, Cold Water

On top of all of the Business of Serving there is much said by God about people who serve the poor.

He who despises his neighbor sins [against God, his fellowman, and himself], but happy (blessed and fortunate) is he who is kind and merciful to the poor.

Proverbs 14:21

Sell what you possess and give donations to the poor; provide yourselves with purses and handbags that do not grow old, an unfailing and inexhaustible treasure in the heavens, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys

Luke 12:33

Then you will be blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied), because they have no way of repaying you, and you will be recompensed at the resurrection of the just (upright).

Luke 14:14

But when you give a banquet or a reception, invite the poor, the disabled, the lame, and the blind.

Luke 14:13

He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and that which he has given He will repay to him.

Proverbs 19:17

The Lord will protect him and keep him alive; he shall be called blessed in the land; and You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. Psalm 41:2

BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, to be envied) is he who considers the weak and the poor; the Lord will deliver him in the time of evil and trouble Psalm 41:1

He has distributed freely [he has given to the poor and needy]; his righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) endures forever; his horn shall be exalted in honor.

Psalm 112:9

He who gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes [from their want] will have many a curse.

Proverbs 28:27

Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He [a]takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, "prompt to do it") giver [whose heart is in his giving].

2 Corinthians 9:7

There are those who [generously] scatter abroad, and yet increase more; there are those who withhold more than is fitting or what is justly due, but it results only in want. 25The liberal person shall be enriched, and he who waters shall himself be watered.

And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday.

Isaiah 58:10

Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house--when you see the naked, that you cover him, and that you hide not yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood? 8Then shall your light break forth like the morning, and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life) shall spring forth speedily; your righteousness (your rightness, your justice, and your right relationship with God) shall go before you [conducting you to peace and prosperity], and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

Isaiah 58:7,8

And the Levite [because he has no part or inheritance with you] and the stranger or temporary resident, and the fatherless and the widow who are in your towns shall come and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do. Deuteronomy 14:29

Mark 10:21

TAKE CARE not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward [[a]reserved for and awaiting you] with and from your Father Who is in heaven. 2Thus, whenever you give to the poor, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites in the synagogues and in the streets like to do, that they may be [b]recognized and honored and praised by men. Matthew 6:1-4
